After climbing the Slovak Direct on Denali in 2000 I was interviewed at the Talkeetna Ranger Station by Dave Krupa for Project Jukebox, which is part of the Oral History Program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I pulled an audio snip about Deprivation from it because - for what ever reason - when I stumbled across the files the other day that passage spoke to me. It's choppy but communicates the message.
